Without a child in placement
After an initial discussion and visit, you apply, notify your current provider, complete assessment and panel, then formally resign once the new approval is ready.
How to transfer
The route differs slightly depending on whether you currently have a child in placement. In both cases, the first conversation can remain informal and confidential.
Choose your situation
After an initial discussion and visit, you apply, notify your current provider, complete assessment and panel, then formally resign once the new approval is ready.
The same assessment route applies, with an added protocol meeting so the child’s local authority and both fostering providers can plan around the child’s welfare.
Without a placement
Discuss your motivation, experience and what you need from a new provider.
Arrange an initial visit with the Organic Fostering team.
Complete the application and notify your current agency of your intention to transfer.
Complete a new Form F assessment, checks and any required learning.
Attend fostering panel and await the formal approval decision.
Coordinate resignation and your start with Organic Fostering.
With a placement
Share the placement context and explore whether a transfer may be suitable.
Apply and notify the current service and the child’s local authority at the agreed time.
All parties consider the care plan, views, risks, relationships and proposed support.
Complete the transfer assessment while placement support continues.
Formal dates and responsibilities are coordinated only once the plan is clear.
Transfer questions
Yes. A transfer requires a fresh assessment, although existing records and your experience may help it progress more efficiently.
Organic Fostering states an aim of around 12 weeks for experienced-carer transfer assessments, subject to checks, availability and individual circumstances.
The team will explain the proposed allowance and any placement-specific arrangements before you make a formal decision.
